Welcome to Second Grade
It is my pleasure to welcome you to second grade. I am excited about teaching your child this year. I have lots of fun and engaging activities planned that will enhance your child's learning growth to their fullest potential!!!
To assist your child in being prepared for school, all supplies will be provided on the first day. It would be helpful if your child has a backpack of some kind to carry any items to and from home.
Homework is a very important learning process for your child. It is my goal to make this fun and rewarding for all. Here are some suggestions to assist your child in this transition process:
Find a quiet spot for your child to be able to concentrate
Encourage your child to pace him or herself throughout the week
Review activities that are completed to reinforce skills learned
Frequently give praise for accomplished tasks
Your child will be given their homework in a packet format. This packet will be given out on Monday and expected back on Friday of the same week
Math Facts Log Sheet - Each night your child should study their addition/subtraction facts up to 20. This can be done in a variety of formats. ( ex. computer, i-pad, cards, games, flash cards, paper/pencil, ect. ) An adult fills out the sheet and it needs to be returned on Friday with the spelling homework.
Birthday's are always a very exciting time for a child to celebrate at school. Your child is always welcomed to celebrate with the class. If you choose to bring in a special treat, PLEASE no food items.
