Thank you to our parents and teachers for successful Parent Conferences in November. The feedback from everyone has been overwhelmingly positive. This certainly is a tribute to our dedicated teachers, caring and supportive parents, and wonderful students. Thank you to all of the parents who were able to donate to the MT-PTA-sponsored lunch for staff during conferences. It was delicious and much appreciated.
A huge Thank you to our amazing Matthew Thornton Families:
We want to thank our students and their families for the support of the Stockings for Soldiers Program in November and thank you to our Outreach Coordinators, Shawna Carroll and Becky Melia, for coordinating the effort. The Student Council sponsored a 4th and 5th grade Canned Food Drive leading up to Thanksgiving and collected many items for families in need. There was an overwhelming response to the Adopt a Family Program this year. Through the Adopt a Family Program, we were able to provide over 300 items for Londonderry families in need! Thank you to Shawna Carroll and Becky Melia for their coordination and orchestration of this amazing effort. In addition, Connor Koza, our MT Student Council President has once again organized a Make a Wish Week which will include a raffle on Friday, 12/16 of donations from community businesses. On Wednesday, 12/15 we will welcome Holly Blanchard, Miss NH and Ambassador for the Make a Wish Foundation and she will speak to the entire student body about the Foundation and the importance of granting those wishes. Our Student Council also organized a “Slime” fundraiser for students in grades 4 and 5 and a “Wear Pink” campaign for all students and staff to wear pink on Friday, December 2nd. Nearly $400 was raised to support Breast Cancer Research. Thank you to our Student Council advisors, Katie Miller and Ann Smith for all of their leadership and guidance in these activities.
Our Winter Wonderland Breakfast/Secret Shop was held on Saturday, December 3rd from 8:30-12:00. Congratulations to Rich Gray and Tara Sessa, Winter Wonderland Chairpersons and to Lisa Burns and Shannon Rheault, Secret Shop Co-Chairs for an amazing job. The school looked so festive and there was holiday excitement in the building all morning. The pancakes were delicious, the chorus sang beautifully, there were great cookies to buy, ornaments to decorate, pictures with Santa and gifts for our youngsters to purchase for loved ones; which all combined to make it a festive day! Thank you to everyone who volunteered; it wouldn’t happen without our generous volunteers! At the conclusion, our Outreach Coordinators Shawna Carrol and Becky Melia, along with many parents and students from the Matthew Thornton family delivered the Adopt a Family gifts to St. Mark’s. Thank you to everyone!
Our annual Holiday Concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 8th at Londonderry Middle School at 7:00 PM. The All-School Concert for the students and staff is scheduled for 9:00 AM on December 8th. We will have performances by all three groups; Chorus, under the direction of Mrs. Gilcreast, Band directed by Mrs. Woodard and Orchestra, directed by Mrs. Salviati. It is sure to be a great kick-off to the holidays.
Thank you to Vanessa Rashid who coordinated the Reflections Art Program this year and congratulations to all students who participated. Student work as well as performances will be on display at the town wide celebration on January 7, 2017! More information will be forthcoming!

School cancellations or delayed openings are announced on our website and on radio stations WLLO (102.9) WBZ (1030), WGIR (610), WDER (1320) and TV stations LEO 21 (Ch. 21) and WMUR (Ch. 9). If a delayed opening is announced, it will be for 2 hours. Students cannot be dropped off at school until 10:30 AM because there will be no supervision until that time. If you are on the email blasts, we will also try our best to send out an email notifying you of cancellations and delayed openings. We also use the school Twitter account for this purpose.
