    Dear Parents/Guardians:

    December, 2017

Thank you to our parents and teachers for successful Parent Conferences in November. The feedback from everyone has been overwhelmingly positive. This certainly is a tribute to our dedicated teachers, caring and supportive parents, and wonderful students. Thank you to all of the parents who were able to donate to the MT-PTA-sponsored lunch for staff during conferences. It was delicious and much appreciated.

A huge Thank you to our amazing Matthew Thornton Families:

We want to thank our students and their families for the support of the Stockings for Soldiers Program in November and thank you to our Outreach Coordinator, Shawna Carroll for coordinating the effort. The Student Council sponsored a 4th and 5th grade Canned Food Drive leading up to Thanksgiving and collected many items for families in need.  There was an overwhelming response to the Adopt a Family Program this year. Through the Adopt a Family Program, we were able to provide a tremendous amount of items for Londonderry families in need! Thank you to Shawna Carroll for her coordination and orchestration of this amazing effort.  In addition, our Student Council has once again organized a Make a Wish Week which will include a raffle on Thursday, 12/21 of donations from community businesses. On Monday, 12/11 Student Council sponsored two kick-off assemblies with Holly Blanchard, Ambassador for the Make a Wish Foundation. She spoke to the entire student body about the Foundation and the importance of granting those wishes. Thank you to our Student Council advisors Katie Miller and Kristina Monteiro for all of their hard work and dedication.

Our Winter Wonderland Breakfast/Secret Shop was held on Saturday, December 2nd from 8:30-12:00.  Congratulations to Rich Gray and Tara Sessa, Winter Wonderland Chairpersons and to Lisa Burns and Shannon Rheault, Secret Shop Co-Chairs for an amazing job. The school looked so festive and there was holiday excitement in the building all morning. The pancakes were delicious, the chorus sang beautifully, there were great cookies to buy, ornaments to decorate, pictures with Santa and gifts for our youngsters to purchase for loved ones; which all combined to make it a festive day!  Thank you to everyone who volunteered; it wouldn’t happen without our generous volunteers! Thank you to everyone!

Our annual Holiday Concert was performed at Londonderry Middle School on Thursday, December 7th at 7:00 PM. The All-School Concert for the students and staff was presented at 9:00 AM on December 7th and was amazing!  We had performances by all three groups; Chorus, under the direction of Mrs. Stacey Gilcreast, Band directed by Mrs. Leslie Woodard and Orchestra, Directed by Kurt Villiard and Assistant Director, Mrs. Donna Salviati.  The students performed to a huge crowd and did not disappoint. We know how much practice and work goes into preparing for a performance and we appreciate the student’s work and the support of the parents as well.

Several students have been coming on the bus with their snow apparel in their backpacks. Please have them wear everything on the bus that they will need to go outside. Thank you.

School cancellations or delayed openings are announced on our website and on radio stations WLLO (102.9) WBZ (1030), WGIR (610), WDER (1320) and TV stations LEO 21 (Ch. 21) and WMUR (Ch. 9). If a delayed opening is announced, it will be for 2 hours. Students cannot be dropped off at school until 10:30 AM because there will be no supervision until that time. The Londonderry School District will call through an Alert System and notify parents of No School or a Delay. We also use the school Twitter account for this purpose.  To follow us on Twitter, go to Londonderry_mte.

“The Art Department is looking for donations of newspapers. We use them throughout the year for projects and to lay out on tables. We will set out a box outside the art room door for any donations throughout the month of January.

Thank you, Ms. Pichette & Mrs. Cowan

We hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a happy and healthy New Year!
